              Pre Programming Steps (Ford Modules)

A CHECK LIST OF ITEMS AND PROCEDURES

THAT MUST BE FOLLOWED BEFORE

CALLING C & e FOR A PROGRAMMING

SERVICE CALL ON FORD VEHICLES

Ford PCM, TCM and FICM Modules

  •     You are ultimately responsible to have the correct module for the vehicle.             

               OEM Rebuilt is the best choice, C & e has seen 0 defective units in ten years. 

         

         C & e has good success programming Used units (if its the right part for that vehicle).

          

           Aftermarket Rebuilt Modules have a very high failure rate. C & e no longer

          programs Aftermarket Rebuilt modules. C & e had 36 defective units in 2014.

       

               PCM and TCM Modules

  •   Install the old original module and have the replacement module with vehicle.

               Two Information Blocks (from old Module) have to be stored in scanner

          then programmed into replacement module.

          When replacing the PCM have all Ignition Keys with vehicle.

          Fords require two programmed Keys to start.

          IMPORTANT! Remove any performance module plugged into PCM,

          new PCM will be damage when programming.

         

          When replacing Transmission or Valve Body, call for special instructions.

          2013 and newer Fusions have specific Immobilizer information, call for details. 

               FICM Modules

         Install the replacement module, call for programming.

        General instructions all Powertrain Modules

  •   Save all Information Sheets packaged with replacement modules.


  •   Make sure data and codes can be read with a scanner not a code reader before

          making a programming appointment with C & e. The module has  to be powered

          up and communicating before it can be programed.


  •     Check the condition and state of charge of the Battery.
  •    Battery cables must be clean and tight.
  •      Vehicle must be parked close to a 110v wall outlet.
  •    Should be parked in the shade with the windows down. Setting in the sun with

                the windows up, tempters can reach 140 degrees.  

   

Ford Body,GEM, ABS, IPC and other Modules


  •   C & e will only Program and Initialize OEM Rebuilt or New modules for these systems.

           


  •   When pricing out a module replacement, determine if programming is required.

           Search in Mitchell or Alldata for "module configuration system" expand the index

           then click on "configurable models", this information will be useful. Most modules

           require programming and or initializing, call and C & e will try to determine what

           is required.

            


             GEM, BCM IPC and Security Modules

  •   All rebuilt or new Gem, BCM, IPC and Security module replacements need Programming

           and or Initializing. Some appear to be plug and play, but option configuration is needed.

  •    Instal old Module in vehicle, have replacement with vehicle. Two Information Blocks          

               (in the old Module) must be read then stored in scanner to be programmed into

           replacement module.

           Have all Ignition Keys and Key Fobs "remotes" with vehicle when any four of these

           modules are replaced. Fords require two programmed keys to start.

             All other Modules

  •    HVAC, ABS and all other modules "MAY" need Programming and or Initializing. C & e        

               has some charts, Mitchell or Alldata has some information. Call for details.

              General instruction all Body Modules

  •   Install old Module in vehicle, have replacement with vehicle.       
  •   Verify communication with module before calling C & e for a programming appointment.
  •     Save all Information Sheets that are packaged with replacement Modules.
  •   Check the condition and state of charge of the Battery.
  •   Battery cables must be clean and tight.
