GM PCM, TCM and Injector Modules

  •     You are ultimately responsible to have the correct module for the vehicle.

OEM Rebuilt is the best choice, C & e has seen 1 defective unit in ten years.

C & e has good success programming Used units (if its the right part for that vehicle).

Aftermarket Rebuilt Modules have a very high failure rate. C & e no longer

Programs Aftermarket Rebuilt modules. C & e had 36 defective units in 2014.

  •   Install the replacement module and have the old module with vehicle.

Save all Information Sheets packaged with replacement modules.

  •   Make sure data and codes can be read with a scanner not a code reader before

making a programming appointment with C & e. The module has  to be powered

up and communicating before it can be programed.

  •     Check the condition and state of charge of the Battery.
  •    Battery cables must be clean and tight.
  •      Vehicle must be parked close to a 110v wall outlet.
  •    Should be parked in the shade with the windows down. Setting in the sun with

the windows up, tempters can reach 140 degrees.

Gm Body, ABS, IPC and other Modules

  •   C & e will only Program and Initialize OEM Rebuilt or New modules for these systems.

AER Technologies (800 321-6970) is a OEM authorized rebuilder for IPC and Radio modules.

  •   When pricing out a module replacement, determine if programming is required.

Search in Mitchell or Alldata for "control module references" this information will be useful.

Most modules require programming and or initializing, call and C & e will try to determine what

           is required.

               IPC Modules

  •   Rebuilt instrument clusters should be powered up before sending the old cluster (core) back.

If it has zero miles, the mileage and engine hours must be inhaled from the old cluster using

the Tech 2 Scanner, then programmed into rebuilt cluster.  WARNING do not drive this vehicle.

After 5 miles the cluster will be "locked from programming the mileage" and will require

              replacement.

             BCM Modules

  •   All rebuilt or new BCM replacements need programming and or initializing. Some appear to

be plug and play, but option configuration is needed. WARNING after 12 key cycles these

BCM replacements will be "locked from configuration" and will require replacement.

  •    Important note, have old BCM in vehicle information needs to be saved.

  •   All remote door fobs must be with vehicle when replacing a BCM, Door Module, Remote Module

          or Tailgate Module.

              Theft Module

  •    When replacing the Theft Module on a Passlock lll or Passlock lll+ system

the old ignition keys can not be reused. Have two precut dealer keys.

               Saturn and Ion BCM Module

  •   When replacing a BCM in a Saturn or Ion call for specific instructions.

               General instruction for all Modules

  •   Verify communication with module before calling C & e for a programming appointment.
  •     Save all Information Sheets that are packaged with replacement Modules.
